Friendly, comfortable and affordable senior living options haven't always been available in the West Plains.

 

Previously, the closest retirement communities were located in Spokane forcing local seniors to move away from their families and community. That all changed in 1979.

 

Led by a spirited and determined woman named Ellen Proctor, a group of community members launched a door-to-door fundraising campaign, educating the community about the need for a local retirement community and raising the funds needed to build Cheney Care Community. This is Ellen's story.
